St. Augustine Wedding Venue
The Lightner Museum courtyard — original Alcazar arches, Flagler-era stonework, open sky — is one of the most photographed ceremony settings in northeast Florida. The Rambler handles the food, beverage, and hospitality so the couple and their guests simply enjoy the space.
The Venue
The Lightner Building — designed by Carrère & Hastings and opened in 1888 as the Hotel Alcazar — has hosted weddings, receptions, and private celebrations for over a century. The interior courtyard, with its arched stone corridors, original tile flooring, and open sky, creates an atmosphere that no manufactured venue can replicate.
The Rambler occupies Suite 120, which opens directly onto the courtyard. That positioning gives us the ability to run ceremony and reception service from inside the space — espresso and coffee service flows naturally from the café into the courtyard, and the after-ceremony hospitality happens in the same environment where guests are already gathered.
The courtyard is available for private ceremony bookings subject to Lightner Museum scheduling and availability. We are the only on-site food and beverage operator in the building, which means we handle all catering for courtyard events without coordination across multiple vendors.
Capacity runs from intimate elopements (2–20) up to 150 seated guests for full courtyard buyouts. Exact setup options vary by layout — share your headcount in the inquiry form and we'll respond with specifics.
The Ceremony
The ceremony is the event. The Rambler supports it with a coffee and champagne station positioned in the courtyard, so guests arriving before the ceremony have something in hand and the couple doesn't need to manage a separate bar setup.
We run a staffed station at the edge of the courtyard — pour-over and espresso alongside chilled prosecco and a seasonal welcome cocktail. It operates through the ceremony and into the cocktail hour, so service continues without a gap.
For couples interested in a signature wedding drink, we work with you to develop a custom cocktail that fits the event. The Rambler Special — our house espresso cocktail with aged rum, coffee liqueur, and espresso — can be adapted for the occasion and named after the couple or the date.
The Rambler Special as a wedding-day custom is a conversation for your planning call. We work with whatever you have in mind.
The Reception
After the ceremony, The Rambler transitions into full reception service. The package typically includes:
Passed hors d'oeuvres and espresso cocktails in the courtyard. Our team circulates — no stationed bar required.
Full espresso bar setup in Suite 120 — two machines, barista staff, standard and seasonal menu. Guests order at the bar or we circulate with a mobile setup.
Late-afternoon or early-evening light bites — pastries, sandwiches, seasonal items — served to guests who are settling into the space or arriving from the ceremony.
Whether it's a planned station or a midnight espresso run, we keep coffee service available through the end of the event.

Common Questions
The Lightner courtyard has covered arcade walkways on all sides, providing shelter for light rain. For heavier weather, we work with you to transition the event to interior spaces. Check the indoor backup field in the inquiry form if this is a concern.
