Now Hiring — St. Augustine, FL

Work where
Flagler walked

The Rambler opens in Suite 120 of the Lightner Building — the 1888 Hotel Alcazar, now a National Register landmark and home to one of St. Augustine's finest courtyards. We're building a team before the doors open.

Not a chain. Not a kiosk.
A real room with real regulars.

Built by brothers

Family-owned from day one. Michael and his brother chose this building on purpose — the courtyard, the history, the gap in the market. You'll know the owners by name.

Counter-service, not conveyor-belt

Small format, high craft. Counter service means you actually talk to people — the Flagler students, the museum visitors, the regulars who come back daily. No drive-through, no assembly line.

A landmark address

Suite 120, Lightner Building — on the National Register of Historic Places since 1971. The building has been here since 1888. Your workplace will be on tourists' maps before we open.

Ground floor of something

We're hiring before we open. You'd be employee #1 through #6 — the team that sets the standard, writes the culture, and makes a coffee shop worth the trip across the plaza.

Who we’re looking for

We’re building a team of 4–6 for opening day. These are the roles on the table now — titles TODO: confirm with owner will be confirmed before offers go out.

Lead Barista

Full-time

You’re the one who knows the regulars before they order, keeps the bar calm during a trolley-stop rush, and quietly elevates everyone around you. Minimum 2 years specialty café experience. Dialing espresso, pour-over, and cold brew with equal care. You don’t need a title to be a leader — but you’ll have one here.

Barista

PT / FT

Counter service, genuine hospitality, coffee you can be proud of. We’re looking for people who care about the cup and the conversation. Experience preferred but not required — we train on our equipment and our standards. What you can’t fake: the instinct to make someone feel welcome the moment they walk through the arch.

Weekend Host

Part-time

Saturday and Sunday mornings are the heartbeat of this place — museum visitors, Flagler families, tourists who only have one morning to get it right. The Weekend Host is their first impression. You know the menu, you know the courtyard, you handle the line with grace. Restaurant, hotel, or hospitality background a strong plus.

Pastry Prep

Early mornings / PT

The pastry case should stop people mid-stride. We’re sourcing locally and finishing in-house — this role handles morning prep, case setup, and the kind of precision that makes a croissant worth a second look. Early start times (before open). Experience in a bakery, kitchen, or food production environment preferred.

What we look for in everyone

Hospitality instinct. You notice when something’s off before anyone says anything. You adjust.
Comfort with rush. Trolley Stop 10 is right outside. Saturday at 10am in a tourist district is a real thing. You don’t panic; you flow.
Interest in the craft. Coffee is the product. You’re curious about extraction, freshness, and why one pour-over tastes different from another.
Reliability. Early morning service doesn’t survive flaky. We’re a small team — everyone counts.

Compensation
